A piece of 9/11

“The bent and twisted metal … is part (5%) of the original antenna from the N. Tower of World Trade Center I (WTCI) destroyed on September 11, 2001. This section is 35 feet 10 inches long by 7 5/8 inches diameter and weighs 7,000 lbs. It was given to Gibsonburg (OH) by the New York/New Jersey Port Authority.

“It is resting on the shoulder of a welded stainless steel scale model 1 foot = 100 feet of The New WTC I symbolizing rebirth and resurrection. The New WTCI is 1776 feet high (the birth of our nation) and the model is 17.76 feet high.”

There two square benches inside this enclosure. “The two benches are the same scale: 2 feet by 2 feet or 200 feet by 200 feet and represent the foundations of WTCI and WTCII and are geographically oriented in relation to The New WTCI model.”

After walking around the pond in this park, we returned to the Madison Street Tavern for a great burger and a great beer from Madtree Brewing, Rubus Cacao. It has exactly what the name implies: raspberry and chocolate. Asked where we could find it at retail and managed to score a 6-pack back in Fremont. Thank you, Chud's! » https://www.madtreebrewing.com/beers/rubus-cacao

This is so interesting. I think many places throughout the US have some material from Ground Zero. I know that we do. It might be interesting to hunt them down in places where you travel.

Very interesting. The stainless steel model would be nice to see in person.

It looked like a trebuchet to me...but as I've pointed out to another 365er today, I ought to go and get my yes tested!

@psychographer I definitely see that! Eyesight has been the most frustrating part of the aging process over the last 20+ years since I reached 40. (Even more than weight control.)
