CNC machining by rhoing

CNC machining

CNC = “computer numerical control”.

“CNC machining is a manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software dictates the movement of factory tools and machinery. The process can be used to control a range of complex machinery, from grinders and lathes to mills and routers. With CNC machining, three-dimensional cutting tasks can be accomplished in a single set of prompts.” https://astromachineworks.com/what-is-cnc-machining/

That is to say, the pattern for the cutting is entered through software. Then the software guides the machine through the actual cutting.

This particular machine was in the basement of Clare's uncle in Ohio as he is tasked with creating signs for the Buckeye Trail — http://365project.org/tags/buckeye%20trail
The plan is to cut them in plastic, but Uncle Tom is practicing with wood to master the CNC software.

P.S. I don't know where you can buy these, but I'm pretty sure they're not on the shelf at your local Lowe's store…

Charlie has a form of this that he bought online. It's a laser engraver, x-y axis only. He is using it right now for several applications.
