This is a “temporary colonist” in my part of the country, so I don't know how many I will see this year. What I like about this shot is that it picked up the fuzziness or hairiness of the top of its hind wing.

@marlboromaam This is the species on which I learned there are “temporary colonists”: species that will be present in a particular region but will not survive over the winter. They may be back next year and they may not. I first posted one in 2012 and 2013. Didn't post any in 2014 or 2015, but they've been here every year beginning in 2016. (I've seen one this month, but I'll probably not be able to post anything since my long lens died.)
Also, I think the Common Buckeye is quite beautiful and am sorry its common name is *Common* Buckeye.
