Painted Lady, wings down by rhoing

Painted Lady, wings down

The telltale markings of a Painted Lady are the four eye spots on the undersides of the hind wings. From the top, they're just black spots. It's so interesting how the tops and bottoms of the wings can be so different.

Not really necessary, but submitted to BAMONA for ID confirmation. Only did so because it's a pretty good dorsal view with wings spread.

ID’ed at BAMONA as Vanessa cardui or “Painted Lady.”
