When I saw these two on the bench I felt a sudden compulsion to ask to take their picture, something I never do normally. As you can see they were more than happy to oblige. In fact I joined them on the bench for a chat, which included mentions of 365 and the bench-life series. They loved it! (In fact, guys if you made it to the web-site and found this page let me know, you may have to sign up. Was great meeting you!)
You could have a travelling portfolio which you set out near the bench and folk could see if they've been snapped and buy a picture........need an agent? :-)
By the way, do you know Humans of New York - it's a Facebook page, a guy who photographs interesting people on the streets of NY - with their permission and getting some background on them.
I hadn't realised how shiny that bench was before now. It's good to talk - I find it useful having the dog because quite often people will talk to me first but I still often chicken out of getting a shot! I'm a bit jealous of @ruthmouch because she always talks to her subjects. I'm rather impressed by that silver-topped walking stick - very smart.
I've done this before, I usually get their email and send them the pic :-) Only seems fair, and sometimes they appreciate it SO much (especially if it's a mom who doesn't have a camera, and I take a really nice pic of their child doing something special.) So, in street photography, would it be "cheating" to edit something out? That napkin is grating on my last OCD nerve!
when I've asked i always end up rushing a shot so not as to disturb them too much...
