Was walking the trail this afternoon with my wife and noticed a lot of noise from one of the hawks. As we rounded the corner, we saw a big bird swoop down on this other bird, being the owl. And then they both landed just about head height. And of course I didn't have the camera at that time. So figured the owl would stay there, and I headed off to the car to get the camera. After getting back, the owl and hawk were still there. My wife said that the hawk had attacked the owl a couple more times. Got things set up and got some shots. Think this may have been the most wide eyed owl that I've seen so far. But I guess when you are afraid for your life, you might tend to keep your eyes open.
