Pileated Woodpecker Building the House!

Watched this guy for some time. Out like this, and then in the hole it would go. Guess it was gathering up the loose sawdust and then tossing it out. It almost could get totally in there, but right now, some of that tail was still hanging out when the rest of the body was hidden away.
Nice timing - wonder how many poles a year these guys take on? I noticed the utility company has enclosed one they like in a parking lot I pass daily with wire - put a stop to his fun.

@milaniet @ludwigsdiana @gilbertwood @koalagardens @ziggy77 @jgpittenger @danette @pdulis Thanks everyone, appreciate all of your comments, view's and fav's. Milanie, this is just an old dead pine tree that it's boring into. Not sure if we are having the problems with the utility poles or not. Jane, didn't see a second one around, but I'll be going back to this spot, as I also found an owl's nest inside an old Oak tree. Saw it fly into it, but just wasn't sure how long it was going to be in there. Hope to see some young owls in the near future.
