Since I've not had any luck in finding one of them in the trees, I was lucky enough to be at an Earth Day festival today, and this one was there with the owner. The lady holding the owl has had it for over 8 years. Not sure what the reason was that it couldn't be returned to nature, but there were issues, such that it could not be returned on it's own. He seemed to be very calm, regardless.
