Panning the Blue Heron With Low Shutter Speed!

Well hadn't planned on doing that, but I had walked about a half a block after parking to get this guy and just as I peeked out from behind the tree, it took off, and of course no time to change the shutter speed. At least parts of it came out in focus.
I did the same thing a couple of days ago, I forgot I changed the shutter speed back to get a wide view and all my flight shots were blurry... you live and learn

I think this is really nicely done - good reflexes - would love to catch a heron traveling this direction

I think this worked out well...nice sense of motion and yet the head is in clear focus. Great shot!

oh yes, this is wonderful - the detail on his back, and then the motion blur on the tips works a treat :)
