Trying a Panning Shot!

Was just trying a panning shot as this gentleman was riding down the street. He seems fairly sharp, but didn't get the blur in the background as I thought it should.

Made a nice b&w shot though - I haven't caught the idea of the panning and focus at all though I like when I see others do it.
