This is the disused viaduct of John O'Gaunt in Leicestershire it was last used in 1965 and comprises 16 arches at a height of 60 feet. It was given grade 2 listing in 1985 but this was withdrawn in 1999.Its generally in poor condition and I suspect it's days are numbered. There is a public footpath near by so I will have to visit again to have a closer look.
@lovingandsharing Thank you :) @laurieewilson Thanks looking at it now I feel I may have overdone the saturation of the red bricks but it does add a pop of colour :) @carole_sandford Thank you :) There was another one a few miles away but they knocked that down because it became unsafe. @helenm2016 Thank you :)
Don't know if you are book person or perhaps even a Bill Bryson fan (I certainly am) but I have just finished reading his latest book "The Road to Little Dribbling" which is a sequel to his first book dedicated to the UK "Notes from a Small Island" which he wrote 20 years ago. He comments on the changing face of the UK and the need to preserve the unique landscape and history. Both are well worth a read - as are all his books.
@terryliv I used to read a lot but tend to find photography gets in the way these days. My dad however is big Bryson fan so I will try and borrow one of his copies and give it a go :)
