The Struggling Swan

I watched this swan trying to cross the river at Stamford today. As you can see it was very swollen and as he tried to get to the other side he gradually started to go backwards in the current. In the end he decided enough was enough and promptly flapped his wings and flew across instead!
A very ominous looking sky! There has been so much rain over the last few days!

I would love to see our ever depleting creek look like this. So dry here :)

I like that you included the whole scene.

That's really swollen, I'd be slightly worried if I lived in one of those cottages. Good shot.

@carole_sandford yes I'm glad it's stopped now although it may take a day for the river to peak.
@hermann I would gladly send it your way it's been one of the coldest and wettest starts to spring that I can remember.
@tunia Thank you :)
@gamelee Thanks Lee I think they will be safe as the park area in the background acts as a flood plain but it looks to close for comfort!

The meadow between the cottages and car park must be really wet by now with the continuous rain.

Wise move to fly instead of paddle, poor swan. What a lot of water.
