@barrowlane I know! I nearly titled this along the lines of 'boil in the bag' hehe! These are high up lambs though, on top of the hills, there was a cool breeze up there for them!
@gilbertwood@777margo It is a bit chilly here still, there could still be frosty nights in this part of the world! These little coats are just designed to keep the wind and rain off the lambs for a few days when they are small. They go on after the ewe has licked them and bonded with the lamb. Sometimes they're in clear plastic coats as some ewes don't like the colour, so with a clear one they can see the lamb properly! I think the lambs sort of burst out of these after a few days, as they grow.
Nothing like spring lamb! I've never seen these bags before but I knew a farmer who kept orphan newborn lambs in the Aga to keep warm with the door open of course!
