The sunshine in this photo is misleading - it has actually rained very heavily all day, aside from a couple of brief sunny spells, as was the case when I spotted this noon fly as I was getting into my car this afternoon.
Nice catch. I find it uplifting when the sun suddenly appears after lots of rain. It's been really stormy round here today at one point I had to pull over as I couldn't see where I was going!
FAV - I love the way you spot these little creatures. What a splendid looking chap - looks very smart. I have never heard of noon flies before ... I live and learn :)
