Foraging

The plan was to introduce the nature table yesterday but there's no time at the moment due to practising for a harvest assembly on top if everything else we have to fit into a school day... this will work out better though - I've had time this evening to collect some more natural treasures and it was a very pleasant half an hour outdoors! I've turned those sticks in my basket into three spider webs to hang up around it. Introducing the idea of a nature table on Friday gives the children the weekend to collect something to share next week!
Great idea....kids will love that too..

You have been busy. I heard on the TV this morning that some words from nature have been taken out of the Collins Junior Dictionary - like wren and willow - as children don't use them anymore. Just find it unbelievable. You're doing such an amazing job opening the eyes of the children in your class (and your other wild adventures) to the natural world around them.

@flowerfairyann It's sad the the dictionaries are removing nature words - in response to that the nature writer Robert Macfarlane has written a beautiful book called The Lost Words which I will be buying and enjoying at some point!
