October's reads

I've already read the bottom three books (all great!) and am half way through Swallowdale... they're all quick reads this month as time is short but I want to get through some books on the 'to be read' piles.
Love Arthur Ransome and not read this one

These are going to keep you occupied when you put your feet up.

@pennystot It's the second book in the Swallows and Amazons series. I only read S&A for the first time last year!

You're better than me, I've read two of the three books from my 'green pile' for June and now it's..... ehm, but holidays coming so hopefully more time.

I like the pic as well as the picks! Always good to look at other peoples bookcases! Not sure that I'd describe The Handmaid's Tale as a quick read.. a chilling book, an all too credible narrative and incredibly powerful writing. You might include all of her novels on your list, if you haven't already read them. I absolutely loved the Oryx and Crake trilogy. I thought the bottom one is amusing light relief.

@yrhenwr Thanks for the recommendations - shockingly, this was the first book by Margaret Atwood I've ever read (as far as I can remember) but I will definitely read others.

you are amazing - I don't know how you find the head space to do this in the busyness of your life. I'm both impressed and challenged!

@dailydelight I guess reading is my escape from the busy bits! I very rarely watch TV so once work, chores and anything computer related are done with, I just like to spend time reading (if I'm not outdoors!).

I so wish I had the time to read more - maybe if I gave up TV watching!
