A day trip to Lancashire, running errands in various places on the way before visiting family for a meal out in the evening at a very nice Indian restaurant.
We were literally passing right by Brockholes nature reserve. We visited 5 years ago when it was quite new and not yet established. Sadly, there wasn't time to explore today, we just stopped for drinks and cake mid afternoon after a busy day. One day we will visit properly!
The visitor centre in the picture is on a kind of floating island, that can rise with the water level as part of the site is a flood plain.
