Beautiful bird. Glided right at me at about 10 feet off the ground before banking to his left and finding a branch. Camera was on the tripod, of course, and I was off to the side scanning distant trees at the time!
Awesome capture... I have two of them that live right by my house in teh summer. Ihave been waiting for them to show up no sign yet, but you can bet I will be ready with the nikon when they do! I know they think I am stalker. LOL
Great capture, Rob ... I love the opportunity to find these beauties. For that reason, I don't like to use a tripod (and I should!) One never knows when you need to swing into action and I feel that the tripod restricts me. That's just my humble and novice opinion of course!! Beautiful bird and wonderful pov!
@shirljess The trick is to get them so used to seeing you that they (almost) pay you no never mind. Good luck with your returning critters! @karenann I know what you mean about the tripod. Every day I have to decide. With only a 300 mm lens the tripod really helps with those far off shots, but then I'd likely need the t-pod with a 400 or 500 anyway. Sometimes its just more fun to leave all the "extras" at home and go out with just the camera!
Great capture Rob! What a beautiful bird. Think you managed your gear well to get that shot. I am trying to use my t-pod more, but I still think it inhibits me sometimes!

Thanks for the kind words. Helps to keep me going and makes it all fun.
Sybil, I noted that you are somewhere in Florida. If you aren't already familiar with it, you should visit the Circle B Bar Reserve just outside of Lakeland. Beautiful, all kinds of wildlife, and it's free! Pretty sure they have a website.
Amanda, A fellow Maniac! Glad you liked the owl. There must be some not too far from Sangerville. If there's a local birdclub or Audubon group they might be able to point you towards one? Thanks for taking the time to drop in.
@rob257 I will look it up I aminthe Tampa bay area now .... Used to live close to the Everglades ... But wasn't taking pictures then corkscrew swamp sanctuary is great for pictures too I had just purchased my camera and now I am almost ready for a new camera I really see the need now ..... Thanks for everything Rob
