..can a good story redeem a grainy and totally uninteresting picture??
Driving to town the other day I saw a painted turtle in the middle of the road, on it's back. I assumed it was dead. Maybe clipped by a passing car? I pulled over and as I approached it I saw no sign of trauma. Picking it up I could see that its head was pulled deep into its shell and four legs and a tail were also tucked in. Couldn't really tell if it was alive or not. I set it well off the road, near a small stream and marked the location with an arrow scraped into the gravel with the toe of my shoe. An hour later, on my way home, I stopped, found my marker (barely visible in this shot) and was glad to see that the turtle was gone. No idea how he had come to be upside down in the middle of the road, but I was glad to see that he had moved on.

Thanks Milanie and Valerie, This is what I consider a "memory shot". Will never frame it and hang it on the wall, but cherish it for the memory it helps preserve.
