Not Red-tailed Red-tailed Hawk by robv

Not Red-tailed Red-tailed Hawk

This is a first year juvenile Red-tailed Hawk I saw down by Upper Newport Bay today. He was more concerned about some vocal Crows nearby than me.
Awesome capture....

So that's what this one is. I shot one up in my area & between talking to others & trying to identify by pictures, I convinced myself it must be a falcon that's been seen at that location. I use to call all hawks red tails, until I discovered that the ones I see the most were red shoulders. Very nicely done! Love your helpful info!

This is a great close up. I see a red-tail most mornings at the 91/605 merge. It's often perched on a lamp-post or a wooden post in the bit of land they decorate. I saw it today so funny you should post this - as I like to look out for it.
