An adult male California Gnatcatcher defending his territory. This species is listed as threatened under the endangered species act. Most of its former range in Southern California has been cleared for development.

@josieben Hey Josie, this was on the backside of UCI marsh, West of San Diego creek. I think there are several pairs on the embankments there. Also drove around Newport Backbay and saw a couple of Clapper Rails, good day for birding.
