Whoa, that's different, quite different....was one darker and the other bright and you put the darker moon on top? I have never really played much with all this processing, so it's quite neat to see what you can do.
@mjalkotzy Yes Martin, I cropped out the moon from a darker exposure and pasted it as a layer into a shot where the hillside was exposed properly. I'm playing with blurring the edges and blending into the surrounding image. I need to match the exposure between the moon and sky elements of the final image, should end up with a half dozen or so layers eventually to merge into one. If I could snap a spread of 8 stops quickly enough I could use an HDR merge routine to generate a final image but I'm a bit too slow and the moon shifts too much in frame.
@robv Thanks Robert....HDR, another process I know nothing about except that the outcome can be quite stunning....maybe once I retire I'll have time to play around....but not now!
Looks very cool, although the edge of the moon look a bit off, don't know. But still beautiful! I will unpack the Christmas-lights in my own home next year, if you want to know what it's all about, google the sentence I typed.
