This is an antique travelling microscope. It comes in a wooden case which forms its base. As you can see - it still works quite well. I found it interesting how such a slight difference in POV can create such a difference in the feel of the photo - the left one feels more scientific to me - you can see how it works and the general assembly. The right one just seems to be interested in the image of the letter. Unsurprising, I like the left one better.
@golftragic It is beautifully made in brass. The wooden case has spaces for samples etc and one on the slides is actually a cute little bath for checking out water life. So many of the vintage pieces of equipment were just works of art in their own right. We used to be avid collectors - just plain ran out of space!! Cheers
