Mona - The Museum of Old and New Art - Hobart, Tasmania

This is not your usual museum. It is a private collection housed in an amazing gallery carved out of sandstone cliffs. It is a very eclectic collection - quite amazing actually - and quite outrageous in sections! One of the photos in the collage is an artificial, functioning intestine which is fed at regular interval and "poos" at advertised times!! Another of the photos is a small section of artfully lighted and nicely spaced plaster casts of dozens and dozens of female private parts!
Gosh! Something to see...once. If its a private collection it is the taste of one person.

@woofandweft1 Amazing it is! One person who made his money from gambling - and then gambled it all by setting up this place. He was interviewed in the paper and commented - " If it hadn't worked Mona could have just been a very expensive lounge room!" He's very switched on though - all Tasmanians have free entry - it seems as if they've all been - and they all suggest that you don't miss it! It was worth seeing too. Cheers for now Rob

Certainly not my taste- but I've never been a fan of modern art anyway. The collage is very nice.

@olivetreeann Thanks for your nice comment on the collage - much appreciated as I'm practicing them without borders. Cheers!

@dkbarnett Thanks Delwyn - Tasmania as a whole is incredible - such variety jammed into such a small state. Well worth a visit. Cheers.
