We often find the turtles hundreds of meters from their dam. They come out to lay eggs in holes in the ground. It's always a worry - the foxes and pigs prey on them.
@gozoinklings Hi Catherine - their necks do look too long for their body!! But they can retract them into safety quite well. There are also short necked ones in the region. Thanks for your interest. Cheers Rob
@bintal Hah - funny you should say that Sylvia - they look like a snake when they wander around in the grass - all you see is a long neck and head poking out! Can give you a fright. They are very timid though. Cheers Rob
