Onion Skin Weathering.

The granite domes at Stanthorpe show classic weathering patterns- producing thin sheets which peel off the dome.
It looks as though the granite is going rusty!

It's really interesting what the weather does to the rock- it looks more like shale to me. I like the rusty look the "peeling" causes too.

@olivetreeann Hi Ann - thanks for your comment. The granite here is very pink when it's fresh - but it does get a lot of lichen growing on it - maybe that's what made it look like shale. :).
