Cough Bush by robz

Cough Bush

This is a native member of the daisy family. It reaches a height and width of 2 metres.
Lovely and sharp. Bet they could be difficult to remove from a dog's coat if it was a long one!

Cough Bush?? Does all that fluff make you cough? I love the cream and brown shades of the flowers

Great close-up and detail. This is the stage after it's bloomed ?

@fbailey Funnily enough FB they are quite soft so they never seem to cause a problem. :)

@madeinnl Thanks so much for your comment Ko - and for going to the bother of trying it on the black background. After reading that I tried it too - it is much better!! Cheers Rob

@casablanca @olivetreeann @golftragic Hi Casablanca, Ann and Marnie - I tried to Google the reason for the "cough bush" name but didn't have much success. I seem to remember reading that it was named after the fact that the Aboriginal people used to brew it up as a linctus. They had many "bush medicine" remedies which have since been found to have a solid scientific foundation - the plants contain an alkaloid or antibiotic etc. Unfortunately a lot of their wisdom has been lost as they have no written records - all info was passed down verbally by song and dance. It is quite fascinating.

@bintal Hi Sylvia - yes these are its seed heads - the flowers are a little bit more pale and not as open. It should drop most of its seeds soon. :)

@suzanne234 Thanks Suzanne :)

@robz That's very interesting Rob, sounds like a good research project for someone with your scientific background.

@golftragic It would be engrossing I think - and maybe useful for new drug research. There seems to be more and more interest in it - so much info has already been lost.
