Spring has sprung.... by robz

Spring has sprung....

Natives are our usual "let's plant some more plants" theme. But these exotic deciduous trees seduced us at the nursery - we didn't think it through very well - 4 months of bare sticks is not very encouraging....

Makes a pretty picture for sure Rob :)

I'm with you Rob. The only deciduous trees we have are fruit trees and a small curry-leaf 'tree' in a pot. Oh and the darned Chinese maple that is a real mixed blessing, suckers like mad.

They might surprise you yet!
Pretty leaf colours in the meantime :)

Ha ha, I have done that at the garden centre too! But it's lovely while it is out and in leaf, eh?

@golftragic Anything that suckers is so annoying. And so many of them get so big!! African Tulip Trees, Chinese Elms, and now I know about Chinese Maples!

@4rky Ahh - you're so right 4rky - I've just taken a nice photo of the new shoots on the other ones- pretty cool actually.

@casablanca I would love to be able to say "yes" but I think ours might be sorry that we bought them! Our soil's not too hot so they have been really slow doing much. I fear we are bad exotic parents!!

@robz We bought a load of stuff at the garden centre on Saturday and dug it all in. Most of them are things we have never grown before, so we are clueless as to if they will be happy or not!! I think you are not alone in being a bad exotic horticulturalist!!
