Mass excitement for us...

A new orchid has appeared - actually about a dozen of them! We think they are Beak Orchids - each one about 12 -15 inches tall.
Is it new to you in a place you've not explored, or has Mum Nature let them spread and grow?

HI Jackie and Wylie thanks for your interest! They're on our funny little farm at Stanthorpe. One of the reasons we bought it was the granite domes which are home to native orchids. We've never seen this one here before - but we have had years of dry seasons. It was very exciting! @30pics4jackiesdiamond @pusspup

Hi everyone - thank you for your interest in our new discovery. It was only after I read your comments that I realized that our tiny terrestrial orchids are so different to the orchids that many people are familiar with. I'm afraid this photo is actually showing the single stalk (and a small part of its single leaf) with 4 flowers already open. Many of our native orchids are only tiny - and hard to find and only last for a few days. But they are so different that they are interesting and the excitement is in actually finding and identifying them. I'll put up some more as we find them. Thanks again for your interest. Cheers Rob :)
