What is an abstract? by robz

What is an abstract?

A simplified form? an image with details removed, an appealing combination of form, line, colour, shadows etc? a pattern or shape in a stylized form? Does a changed image count - one showing a recognizable image in a way not usually associated with it? I like this image - but can it be called an abstract?
Yesz!!!

Fab fun photo. Looks like something out of a sci-fi flick, or somewhere buggered-up by Kim Jong whatsis.

@robz What did you do to it? Invert?

@golftragic Yep - nothing else. It's amazing the colours that appeared - the sky really intrigued me.

@photobird Thanks Photobird = the strong colours in the original transferred well.

@robz I thought so, I've just been studying colour theory including how to use inversions to alter colours selectively. Great effect here, that sky's a ripper.

@golftragic It's actually really interesting - I've found that the tricky bit is to remember to look for the combinations that will work - and not have too many very dark sections. - they give nasty flares. :)
