This brought back memories. I was very small when the Queen was 'coronated' ha ha and my Mum bought me a cut out book of the coach and horses. When the Queen came to our village shortly after the coronation, all the children, including me, from our nursery school went to watch her drive by. I was so disappointed because all I saw what a lady in a black car waving and wearing a green coat and hat. I was expecting the full coach and horses.
Oh gosh, how wonderful. Loved Babs' @onewing story, gotta add one of my own. My daughter, then aged 5, came home from a friend's place in tears one day. After mopping-up same I enquired as to the reason for the sorrow. Says she: 'it's the Queens' Birthday today, and I haven't been invited to the party'!
when I was in high school I couldn't understand why one girl got so excited that she was seeing [the] Queen.
Now I would give anything to have seen Freddie Mercury live on stage!!!!!
@golftragic Lol Marnie - what a tale - it's amazing what ideas kids get and how it can upset them. Poor little ting - I bet it took some explaining. :)
@koalagardens You made me wonder Katrina - I had a look on EBay - they vary enormously in price - the ones with boxes seem to be worth a couple of hundred dollars. I think this poor little fellow is not very valuable - very, very used! :)
@robz Yep, quite a lot of explaining as I recall. My kids went to a very small one/two teacher school so birthday parties always involved all the kids in that year group (often only 4 or 5).
