@mstipe Thanks, Michelle! When I saw the purple buds mixed in with the green stems, I thought it would make for a nice abstract, so I took a lot of different shots trying different things, including upping the aperature and adjusting the focus (or lack thereof). Also, in post, I titled the photo and played with the temperature/tint to try to maximize the impressionist effect. So, I guess it was really in post that I realied I was going for Monet, but I started out knowing I wanted to shoot for an abstract. That was a long-winded answer, sorry!
