Spiky by rosiekerr

Spiky

A spiky little gum ball, out in my back yard. When I am trolling around in the yard for items of interest, it is a sure clue that work has been demanding. I really like the many textures, colors and variable surfaces that this mundane object provides. I thought about a b&w, but the color (to me) enriches the image. Almost like a tiny planet! :)

Thanks for your kind comments on my butterfly shot from yesterday. I appreciate each one.
Excellent shot, great textures

Very interesting subject, cool texture. I agree it's lovely in colour and I'm not sure that it would have the same impact in black and white.

I like the close zoom. This is a subject with so much potential, from what you have done here to B&W to focus stacking (ever tried that, by the way?)

Love your spiky little gum ball, Rosie, and especially its rich colours. Beautiful capture. As above, this little seed head has lots of potential.

A beautiful rendition of a very ordinary thing - that is what defines a real photographer! FAV

@ericdibosco I have never tried focus stacking. I have read a bit about it but have never tried it... it sounds very intimidating and time consuming. Also, I have never tried combining multiple photographs together into one, so that part has me stumped, too. Maybe after I am an "empty nester" this fall, I will have some time to concentrate on this technique? This subject would be a good one to try it with, I am guessing?
