Sometimes, I take my point and shoot camera with me when I run (multitasking). This was laying in the middle of the sidewalk... what the heck is it? Anyone know? It looked like a brain, for heaven's sake. I guess a spectator would have thought that I lost my brain, laying on my stomach in the middle of the sidewalk. :)
Thanks for your kind reception of my "200%" project anniversary shot from yesterday. Quite the milestone. This continues to be a very enriching journey.

I see by your tag that you wondered if it was a breadfruit. That's the closest fruit I've ever seen that resembles it I've never seen this one, and find the information interesting, especially Skip @skipt07 link! Thanks for that...fascinating!
It's a hedge apple. In Kansas, trees were planted in hedgerows to serve as wind breaks. they are also know as Osage oranges. Lore has it that you should place one in your house to repel crickets.
The locals here call these orbs "Hedge Balls" as they come from the hedge trees that grow at the edges of cornfields or along property lines. Super DOF choice as the background is perfectly blurred.
very brave of you to lie down on the road to take this shot. I normally just bend down and point the camera in the right direction and shoot.
