An experiment with a focus technique which I have been thinking about for a while... to get a three dimensional object in focus on all planes, you have to "stack" up several photos taken at various focal points, into one shot, via Photoshop. This is three shots, merged into one. If you have time, the details show up best on black. Now that I have a tripod which doesn't tip over in the slightest breeze, this was a bit easier.
It was fun to give this a try. Baby steps. :) Thanks, as always, for taking time to visit... each is a gift of time, which I do appreciate, very much.

That takes time, percistance and hard work looks great. You would think these days we could get micro that you could get good depth of field without stacking.
@trm Amazingly, Oly has a firmware update, coming in November, which may permit such shots to be done "in camera." Time will tell. Thanks for taking time to comment. :)
This came out really tack sharp. I'm impressed. Did you have a tutorial that you found helpful? I've seen a few Jane posted and it really does make a difference to focus stack. Want to learn this...
I looked at this on my ipad yesterday and wasnt sure that it was tack sharp on the stem. To my eyes it isnt quite...though I see Taffy thought it was. Is it my eyes? Hope not! If it is the shot, not my yes, maybe you needed a couple more shots? Also, I assume your plane was totally parallel to the acorn?
@jgpittenger It is sharper in real life... it lost something on the upload. Very likely, I could have used a few more shots. All I did was focus each shot on different parts of the acorn. I only took three, because I had never combined shots in Photoshop before and was nervous about working with lots of different shots. Practice, practice... :) Thanks for taking time to comment.
@taffy All I did (probably incorrectly) was take three shots, focused on different parts of the acorn. I watched the Photoshop tutorial on how to combine multiple shots, then followed instructions. :) I bet there are some good tutorials out there, though. I just am working on such limited time these days.
