I wish I could have managed this for Earth Day. Here it is, a few days late. Plus, it's a six word story for a rainy, stormy day. I managed to do this without consulting the teenagers and their tutorials on YouTube. ;)
Thanks for all of the kind remarks about my macro shot from yesterday... much appreciated.

@jgpittenger Two photos, one of the light bulb and one of the tree, in Photoshop. Layers are involved, as are layer masks. Honestly, I have been taking baby steps with Photoshop for almost 18 months... quite the learning curve, but intellectually satisfying. :)
Absolutely wonderful, very clever. I love Photoshop and, like you, very much enjoy the intellectual challenge. Keeps my brain from going rusty. Fav for me.
Wowzer. So clever, intriguing and thought-provoking. I like the way you casually say 'layers are involved, as are layer masks'. Enough to give me goose bumps. I am taking the tiniest baby steps with PS whereas you seem to have graduated to Gigantic Strides. Would I have to look up composite images to try something like this? Yep, don't even know where to start ... ;)
Saw this on the PP, liked what I saw, so then I looked through your recent images -.especially your macro treatment of (seemingly) mundane subjects. Following.
