El Galeon by rosiekerr

El Galeon

El Galeón, a full-size reconstructed Spanish sailing vessel of a type used in early Colonial times (around 1550), as she makes a stop on its journey up and down the Eastern U.S. Coast. Ships of this type founded St. Augustine, Florida (the first city in the US).

Spotted in Alexandria, Virginia, as we have a tourism-fest in the Washington, DC, area.

Thanks so much for taking time to visit. I really appreciate each one.

Fab shot, really shows how bloomin' small these ships were, and how much hard work must go into sailing them. No way would I be up those ropes (even if I were fit enough).
