Eclipse, 2017, Carbondale, IL. Totality. It looks like a time traveling "wormhole in space."
Honestly, this photo simply does not do the moment of totality any justice. The electric, colorful flickering around the edges of the moon is just magic. We almost didn't make it, because we had to do a last-minute re-route to escape cloud cover. At least we saw it and I didn't completely collapse when it came time to press the shutter.
Apparently, the corona of the sun is the hottest thing we will ever see. Amazing.

Whoohoo!!!! SOOO glad this worked out! We were on the Skybridge roof, with our glasses to protect, and watched in between clouds as it moved toward not being in totality. I'm so excited to see your shot!
@taffy Honestly, it was really amazing. I kind of panicked and just focused/clicked. The flickering colorful electricity around the edges was really a once-in-a-lifetime view.
Amazing Rosie!! Absolutely beautiful. This was a fun experience with kids who stayed home with friends. We kept popping out to see the progress. No totality here but close!!
Super shot! So glad you got to experience totality. My daughter and I lay on our lawn with our glasses on and much like @taffy watched the partial eclipse dodging between clouds (all with our glasses on)! Not a touch on what you experienced, not even remotely close!
You described the color of the corona so well!!! It was absolutely amazing. I'm happy you got to see it!
This photo captures the... I don't know how to word it.. texture? tentacles? of the corona stuff really nicely. So many photos I've seen are too smooth and round to capture what I saw.
Wow Rosie this is fabulous! How wonderful to experience totality and to get such a great shot! I was thrilled seeing just the little segment missing from the sun so I can imagine your excitement to actually see it! Jealous or what? Lol! Huge fav!
This is magical Rosie, only someone who has seen it before will understand what you are saying. I saw it many years ago in Germany, it's just unbelievable. Fabulous shot, fav
