Here is a bit of kitschy Route 66 roadside fun, spotted because I had to drive the pet rats several hours up north into Illinois today, to pass them off to their new care giver for this semester. The US never ceases to amaze me, for good and for ill.
Livington, IL. Right next to a pink elephant, a space saucer and some other "feats of fiberglass." If you click on the link, you can read the reported story of how they obtained the ice cream stand.
They were open for business. :) Processed for that "kitschy" feel.

@taffy Driving 3 rats from STL to Bloomington and back again. Goal - meet a college student in the parking lot off the highway, pass the cage, turn around, return. :) 5 + hours.
As you know we make the drive from Chicago to St. Louis at least twice a year, and so have to ask is this taken at that crazy Antiques Mall along the I-55! I so want to stop here and take some pics, but Tim is one of those drivers who is this is where I start and this is where I end, so no stopping along the way! Absolutly love it, pure Americana!!!
