Monticello - Dome Room by rosiekerr

Monticello - Dome Room

One more from Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson. This is the room inside the dome, at the top of the house. Some of our tourists friends appear at the door. You can see the dome at the top of the house, from yesterday's shot.

As you may (or may not) know, Thomas Jefferson was a self-taught architectural student... to the point that he taught himself Italian, just so he could understand the books.

Thanks for taking time to visit, as always.

Perfectly photographed with the lines coming in from the corner and a great sense of the expanse of the interior. All the repeating circles are so like what I've read about Jefferson's design sense.

I often wish that i lived near the east coast just because the colonial history abounds there.
