Secret Spaces

One more from Monticello.

Thomas Jefferson had lots of family members in his house. Apparently, some of his daughters were very desperate for private space (this was a very literate family). So, they found this room off of the dome (yesterday's photo) to furnish from the rest of the family ("to share with the mud-daubers.").

It's a jump-down from the dome.

Thanks for tolerating the history lesson. :)
Such a wonderful and cosy setting, great shot.

Love the feel of this cosy spot, all that's needed is a good cup of coffee.

A lovely little hide away room. They must have loved escaping to here.

What a very interesting window - I would be looking out of it more than sitting on this couch with long skirts and petticoats on, drinking tea!

Wonderful room. The angle of your photo made me think at first of a doll house room.
