Starlings on a rainy day

These young starlings actually had quite a lot of sense because they used the bird table as a shelter against the rain. Because it has a roof, it is not only a place to keep the food dry but also to keep little starlings dry too! They seem to have been the only birds to realise that and even their parents didn't seem to have the same idea. It has been an ideal day though for picking about on the lawn as it must be fetching the grubs up. I haven't seen the wrens today but I haven't been hanging about in the garden as it hasn't stopped raining all day and it is predicted to carry on until 7 am tomorrow! We now have a pond again in the front garden and Steve says the birds have been taking a bath in it but it's getting a bit deep so they better be careful otherwise they might drown! It would be alright for waders though. By the way this was taken through the kitchen window which is not so clean now!
Well it's an excellent shot of clever young starlings even if it was taken through the window. Although they are keeping in the dry, they do seem quite vulnerable.

Sweet shot - its the juvenile bird equivalent of hanging around in a bus shelter! We have lots of mini ponds in our garden - it's crazy!

@juanita @sailingmusic Thanks - they do look rather miserable bless them but then so would I have done if I had been standing out there in all that rain! I thought it would never stop
