I've never actually seen a live green woodpecker before so you can imagine how excited I was to manage to get some pics of this one! It's not a very good photo because the woodpecker was among the trees and the branches were getting in the way so the focus is not good at all but I've still posted it because I managed to capture it! I've only ever heard them laughing before and I knew they were about. This was taken when I walked down the cycle track this morning. I went there to view the floods and it is impassable on foot in quite a few places. Have a look at my other albums to see pics of the floods
@landownunder@juliehill@jenrobcarr Thank you. It's just a shame that it's not better quality. Never mind, I shall go hunting for him again and hope to catch him. I've heard them there many times before but never seen them. The wet weather may have had a hand in helping me!
Loads of them around here, but never managed to photograph one. They're always several trees ahead of me after they fly up from feeding on the ground. Very distinctive 'bounding' flight.
