I'm not sure what this little bird is but I thought it was a yellowhammer. However, it has orangey brown eyes which has confused me. this is SOOC and it really was this bright yellow colour in the sun. He stood there for me for a few minutes so I was able to get a few shots of him. I couldn't believe my luck after getting the heron yesterday and now today I've got this one and a nice pic of a fieldfare in my Bits & bobs album. It is looking like a good weekend for birding! This was taken in Wood Lane where I was accosted by a lady who lives there. She called after me and said that photography was an unusual hobby! I couldn't believe what she was saying but told her that I take pics every day. She then asked me where I lived and when I told her, I realised that she was just watching out for strangers who might be out to rob her! I don't think I look like a burglar but hey ho! Anyway, Steve services her lawn mower so when I told her that I was his wife, she let me go on my way.
Great capture, think it is a Yellowhammer, had a look through my Collins Bird Guide and the Yellowhammer is the closest match.
I have ever only seen two of these.
Think you're right about the Yellowhammer, I can't think of another British bird as yellow as this, The colour is astonishing. Great capture, well done.
I have ever only seen two of these.
