I have had a busy day battling a housing association who will not pay for the lock on a 90 year old lady's back door and saying that they will not repair a window whose hinges need tightening up as it drops so that she cannot close it. I have been disgusted with their attitude and the chap I spoke to wouldn't give me his surname as he said that it is "company policy". When I said that Bedford on Sunday (our local paper) would be interested, he phoned back and said that they would repair the window but it couldn't be done tomorrow when they are coming to sort out the door handle which is nearly hanging off! Anyway, I made myself feel better, because with the client's permission, I have emailed the paper and told them that this is a 90 year old lady with very limited finances! We'll wait and see what happens but I'm not at work now until next Wednesday because I'm getting some of my time back over the bank holiday. Anyway, I have been trying out my Lumix camera with the teleconverter lens on which is long and heavy to determine whether I would cope with a long lens. What a mistake! I found it difficult to keep it steady when focusing so haven't got any decent pics today really. This is a tulip which I took with just the extension tube on. Not brilliant but never mind. Welcome back to my Nikon tomorrow I think
It's the mechanism within the door which will cost £135 which is a lot of money for someone on Pension Credit - nearly a week's pension as she gets £145 per week.
lovely closeup...and good on you to get them to look after things. Companies like that seem to think they can just take in the money and not put any out on needed repairs.
Lovely bright colours - I think the red relects your rage at the housing association. Well done for taking it to the paper. Publicity works these days. You shouldn't have to do it but if you can't get a proper response you have to.
