I was going to walk along the other side of the River Great Ouse today but I suddenly saw this great big black bird flying over. In flight I thought it was a black heron. Anyway, I crossed over the lock back to where I had come from and noticed 2 big black birds sitting in a tree so I decided to investigate and here is one of the birds I found. it is a cormorant and I haven't seen them in the trees before. Both of them sat with their wings outstretched and I thought they looked like fine looking birds.
Excellent and unusual shot. I love cormorants but have never seen them in trees, and it's hard to see them under water and usually expect to see them hanging out their wings on rocks or boats at anchor. FAV!
He's a beauty and a great shot too. @lucypics The ones at Paxton Pits - nest in trees - the European cormorants do that and at Paxton the others copy them - the trees are all white with poo... Maybe this one grew up there!!
