I took this one at Priory when I walked around the Finger Lakes. The damselflies were really huge and were flying around over the lake. I have never turned the shutter speed up so high but needed to in order to get a pic of them in flight. I thought of posting a diptych (not sure of the spelling) of one with its wings up and then with the wings down really demonstrating the movement of the wings but they were a bit overexposed so decided to post this one. I just love the bright blue colouring which is accentuated by the blue and green of the background.
Fabulous capture Rosy. I have looked in my book and I think this is a Common Hawker Dragonfly. So wonderful to see!! I haven't seen any this year and am very disapointed!! Fav!!
@pamknowler Thanks for identifying this. I thought it was too big for a damselfly but didn't know what it was. There are loads of them by the Finger Lakes
@wozencraft@busylady@tishpics@taffy Thank you @judithg I had to really up the ISO to compensate for the fast shutter speed which is probably why the background looks a bit noisy and I haven't worked out how to get rid of noise despite watching a tutorial on it. I'm just no good with editing so I leave them as they are. Perhaps I should arrange to have tuition on editing - just too lazy!
@lucypics @simster @chris17 Thanks
@thresheg Especially thanks for your Fav
