I'm using up annual leave so have been off today. What a beautiful day it has been too. I have walked 4 miles around Dovecote Lake and all the way round the cycle track and I'm absolutely whacked now but we are going to friend's later so I haven't got to cook tonight.
It has been rather a dramatic day really as when I left the house I heard a burglar alarm and followed the sound to where it was coming from. It was from a neighbour's house 5 doors away. I went to check whether everything was OK and rang the doorbell but there was nobody at home. I then went round the back and found that the kitchen door was unlocked. I tried to ring 101 on my new phone but when it asked me to choose option 2, I couldn't find any buttons on the phone to do it so I phoned Steve and asked him to ring. Anyway, I went back round by the kitchen door and thought I could hear someone inside so I rang 999. The next thing was a dog handler arrived and proceeded to go into the house followed by 2 other police cars. Then the helicopter flew around overhead! The long and short of it was that the owners had left the door and garage unlocked and their new burglar alarm is playing up! The Police secured the property and I got a neighbour to give them the details of their daughter who was at work but who lives opposite so that they could make arrangements for the keys. The neighbour is a Street Coordinator for Neighbourhood Watch for her end of the street and I cover the rest. Good job I take it seriously as they could have been burgled. I don't think they will forget again!??
Lovely Greenfinch , you can not be to carefull about things like that I had my garagebroken into a couple of years ago in broad day light and is over looked by a neigbours Kitchen, so good on you for calling the police
