I crept up really close to this heron when I saw him down the Embankment in Bedford. I had to go to town to collect my contact lenses but more importantly to buy a good supply of bird food from Wilkinson's. The blackbirds round our way are rather fussy and won't eat some of the food that I've bought at another supplier! They like Wilkinson's blackbird & thrushes special mix! I have to get what they like otherwise I land up throwing the cornflake type things out of the other stuff that I bought when I ran out! I also needed to get suet pellets for my little blue tits and robins as they need to keep their strength up while feeding the little ones! I spoil them but they're worth it
