When I looked out of the kitchen window when I was clearing away the breakfast dishes, I saw not one, but two black squirrels chasing each other around. Of course my camera with the great focus was upstairs as I always take it upstairs at night and put it in a cupboard in my bedroom. I do that because if someone broke into my house, I don't want them to steal my camera! I also take my laptop up as well so anything precious is nearby.
Anyway, the squirrels were chasing about the garden and it was a job to get any decent pics with my bridge camera which is in a cupboard in the kitchen and I wondered whether they would still be there when I got back downstairs but this one very kindly stopped running for a second so I could get a shot of him. I just love his fluffy tail and if you have time and view it large, you can see the detail better.
Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs. It is always appreciated.
They are cuter than the greys! There is a big colony a mile away from us and we have had one in our garden once but the greys seem to be hanging on. Never had a decent shot of any squirrel so I'm very impressed with your black!
Fabulous shot - this is so good - I forget how small these critters are until I see a shot like this which offers such excellent perspective. We don't have them down here. Are the black squirrels native to the UK? Fav.
Waaw !! well spotted I have never seen or heard of a black squirrel before !! Fantastic shot great sheen on her body and a wonderful tail -- A certain fav for me Rosie !
@snaphappi No I don't think they are native to UK and I've never seen them before and certainly not in my garden. Thanks for your kind comments and Fav
This is a new one for me, though my husband has seen them in Louisiana. Love that tail - the detail is wonderful when viewed enlarged. The lighter background is super against the squirrel's colors.
